Dwight Business Leaders Begin Process to Re-Establish

Dwight Area Chamber of Commerce

Dwight, IL - A group of Dwight-area business owners and operators has formally begun the process of re-establishing a Dwight Area Chamber of Commerce, a business-led organization focused on supporting local businesses, strengthening the local economy and fostering collaboration across the community.

Dwight has a long history of organizations working to support business development, tourism, and civic engagement. In 2014, the community consolidated several entities, including the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Council, Main Street, Impact Dwight, and tourism efforts, into a single organization known as the Dwight Economic Alliance, with the goal of streamlining resources, finances, and volunteer leadership.

With support from the Village of Dwight, this model operated successfully for a number of years and played an important role in advancing community initiatives. Recently, the Village of Dwight announced the formation of its own Economic Development Council, resuming direct responsibility for economic development activities within the Village. Additionally, the Dwight Economic Alliance announced it would change its name to Dwight Alliance and shift its primary focus to civic and community events.

As a result of these changes, local business leaders identified an opportunity to re-establish an independent, business-focused Chamber of Commerce dedicated specifically to the needs, advocacy, and collaboration of businesses operating in and around the Dwight area.

Following a series of initial planning meetings, the group has filed for state incorporation, appointed an interim Board of Directors, and established working committees to guide the Chamber’s early development. Organizers emphasize that the effort is being built intentionally and collaboratively, with a focus on long-term sustainability and broad business participation.

The organization has adopted the following mission statement:

“The mission of the Dwight Area Chamber of Commerce is the support and advocate for local businesses, strengthen our local economy, and foster collaboration that enhances opportunity and quality of life throughout our community.”

As development continues, business owners and operators throughout the Dwight area are encouraged to participate in shaping the Chamber’s priorities, structure, and programming.
